Shift knob pulls of. NO screw. I wrapped a towel around the shaft, and then placed a channel wrench under the knob and gently knocked the wrench up with a rubber mallet. Popped right off no problem. then I had to screw a hole in the bottom of the custom knob (a hare of a 1/2" wide hole) : fit right on.
